We are focused on enhancing our processes to support responsible sourcing of materials and ingredients as well as Health and Nutrition and responsible product marketing. Enhancing our Supply Chain Management processes continue to be an emphasis as well. Further, food safety is critical to long-term stability and growth.

Food Safety & Quality Programs

We have robust food safety and quality programs in place to ensure our products are safe for our consumers and to maintain our high-quality standards at all of our bakeries and distribution centers.

  • Each of our facilities maintains a food safety plan, which is reassessed annually by the management team at each facility. The food safety plan includes a Hazard Analysis and Risk Based Preventive Controls ("HARPC"), a supplier approval program and other food safety controls.
  • All of our operating facilities have Global Food Safety Initiative ("GFSI") benchmarked certifications and many of our ingredients are sourced from suppliers which are GFSI benchmark certified.

Product Marketing and Nutrition

We maintain strong product marketing and nutritional goals across our Company and continue to analyze our strategies for stronger consumer engagement.

  • In 2022, we remained committed to providing top tier snacking products to consumers in a responsible manner. We are one of 21 companies that has joined the Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative (CFBAI) and have pledged not to advertise to children under the age of 13.*
  • Roughly 80% of our sales from products we manufacture are either sugar free or individually portioned allowing our consumers to enjoy our delicious products every day.**

Responsible Ingredient Sourcing

Our supply chain management and responsible ingredient sourcing strategies highlight our commitment to building a sustainable and diverse set of suppliers. We actively engage with and support our suppliers through a variety of safety and social activities.

  • We are committed to improving our supply chain and ingredient sourcing strategies. Hostess Brands has been a member of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2017 and ensures a portion of the palm oil used is certified by RSPO. We are excited to continue to increase our RSPO certified palm in the future.
  • We are a member of Sedex, through which we map our supply chain and require our suppliers to complete a social ethical audit. We continue to work with our suppliers to continuously improve their business.
